Returns and Refund Policy

This policy applies to purchases made on the Atlantic Steel Buildings website (atlanticsteelbuildings.co.uk) by consumers (individuals purchasing for purposes outside their trade, business, craft, or profession). Your statutory rights under UK law, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, are not affected by this policy.

1. Statutory Right to Cancel (Change of Mind) - Distance Selling

As you are purchasing goods online, you have a statutory right to cancel your order for any reason during the "cooling-off" period.

1.1 Cancellation Period

  • You must inform us of your decision to cancel your order within 14 calendar days from the day after you receive the last item of your order.
  • Once you have informed us of your wish to cancel, you have a further 14 calendar days to return the goods to us.

1.2 Exemptions to the Right to Cancel

The right to cancel does not apply to goods that are:

  • Made to the consumer's specifications or are clearly personalised (e.g., custom-sized doors, bespoke-cut guttering lengths, or made-to-order window frames). Due to the nature of our products, many are made to order, and these items cannot be returned unless they are faulty or not as described (see Section 2). Please check product descriptions carefully for customisation notices.

1.3 How to Cancel

You must clearly communicate your decision to cancel to us, for example, by:

  • Emailing us at [Insert Email Address Here]
  • Writing to us at [Insert Physical Address Here]
  • Using the model cancellation form provided in the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 (available upon request).

1.4 Returning the Goods (Change of Mind)

  • You are responsible for the cost and safe return of the non-faulty goods to us. Given the large size and weight of the products (doors, windows, guttering), the cost of return delivery may be significant.
  • The goods must be returned in a re-saleable condition, unused, and in their original packaging. We reserve the right to deduct an amount from the refund if the returned goods show evidence of use beyond what is necessary to establish their nature, characteristics, and functioning, or if they are damaged in transit due to inadequate packaging.
  • We can arrange collection for you, but the direct cost of collection will be deducted from your refund. Please contact us for a quote for this service.

1.5 Refunds (Change of Mind)

  • We will refund the full purchase price of the goods, including the cost of standard outbound delivery. We will not refund any enhanced or express delivery charges you may have chosen.
  • The refund will be processed within 14 calendar days of us receiving the returned goods, or 14 calendar days after you provide evidence that you have returned the goods (if earlier).

2. Faulty, Damaged, or Misdescribed Goods (Your Statutory Rights)

Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, all goods must be of satisfactory qualityfit for purpose, and as described. If your product fails to meet these criteria, you have the following rights:

2.1 Short-Term Right to Reject (Within 30 Days)

  • If the goods are found to be faulty, damaged, or not as described upon delivery or within 30 calendar days of delivery, you have the right to reject them and claim a full refund.
  • You must notify us immediately of any damage or fault upon receipt. For significant damage to large items, you should note it with the courier/delivery driver where possible and contact us within 48 hours.
  • We will cover the reasonable cost of returning the faulty goods or arrange for collection at our expense.

2.2 Right to Repair or Replacement (Within Six Months)

  • If a fault develops after the 30-day period but within six months of delivery, you must give us the opportunity to either repair or replace the item.
  • If the repair or replacement is unsuccessful, or if we cannot provide one, you are entitled to a price reduction or the final right to reject the goods for a full refund (a deduction for use may be applied in some cases, although this is usually after six months).
  • During this six-month period, it is assumed the fault was present at the time of delivery, unless we can prove otherwise.

2.3 Faults After Six Months (Up to Six Years)

  • The law allows you to make a claim for up to six years (five years in Scotland) from the date of purchase. If a fault develops after six months, you must be able to prove that the goods were faulty at the time of delivery.

2.4 How to Report a Fault

Please contact us immediately via [Insert Email Address Here] or [Insert Phone Number Here] with:

  • Your order number.
  • A clear description of the fault or damage.
  • Photographic evidence of the fault or damage (this is essential for large items).

3. General Returns Information

  • Proof of Purchase: All returns and refunds require proof of purchase, such as your order confirmation email or invoice.
  • Commercial/Business Orders: This policy primarily covers consumer purchases. If you are a business customer, your rights will be governed by our specific Business Terms and Conditions of Sale.
  • Inspection: We strongly recommend inspecting large items like doors, windows, and guttering thoroughly upon delivery and noting any damage with the carrier before signing for them.
